Lewis County Launches Online Concealed Pistol License Application Process

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office has launched a new online process to apply for or renew Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPLs).

Beginning last Monday, applicants can access the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office website and select the link to apply for a new CPL or to renew an existing CPL, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The applicant will also be able to electronically upload any documents needed for the application process.

Applicants for a new CPL will also be able to schedule the required fingerprint appointment and pay online.

The new process is intended to create “a more interactive experience” that will allow the applicant to view the status of their application and be notified upon approval or denial, according to the sheriff’s office.

Once an application is approved, a new “hard card-style” license will be provided.

The online process is also intended to allow citizens greater flexibility to apply and submit their application any time of day, even during non-business hours, according to the sheriff’s office.

For citizens needing fingerprints not related to a CPL, there will also be a link on the sheriff’s office webpage to schedule appointments and pay online for the services.

“I’m excited for the implementation of this new online application system, which should make the process easier and more accessible for our citizens, especially those in some of our more rural communities,” Lewis County Sheriff Rob Snaza said in a news release.
