Silver Creek man Loren T. Lobb, 36, was charged in Lewis County Superior Court Tuesday with five counts of second-degree child molestation, one count of distribution of a controlled substance to a person under the age of 18 and one count of supplying liquor to a minor.

Each second-degree child molestation charge carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines, and is considered a strike offense. The distribution charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

According to court documents, the abuse allegedly occurred over a period of weeks in June and involved a child under the age of 14.

Lobb has no previous felony history. His bail was set at $50,000 cash or bond during a preliminary hearing Tuesday, where he was ordered to have no contact with minor children.

A sexual assault protection order was entered on behalf of the alleged victim, along with an order for Lobb to surrender any firearms.

An arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 18.
