The Lewis County Master Gardener Foundation selected the Centralia College Trailblazer Food Pantry as its 2025 holiday donation partner, continuing an annual tradition of giving back to the community.

Each year, during the foundation’s awards celebration, members donate items that support a local organization chosen as that year’s giving partner.

“We are happy to help members of our community, and the Centralia College Pantry made perfect sense,” said Jeannette Lawson, president of the Lewis County Master Gardener Foundation. “Their work directly supports students who are working hard to build their futures.”

This year’s donation totaled well over 150 pounds of food and essential personal care items, all contributed by Master Gardener volunteers, according to a news release from the foundation.

The Centralia College Trailblazer Food Pantry provides free groceries and hygiene supplies to students facing food insecurity and low incomes, ensuring they have the support they need to succeed academically.

In addition to the donation, the foundation celebrated outstanding volunteer contributions with its annual awards celebration.

Sandy Papineau was honored as the 2025 Master Gardener of the Year, recognizing her exceptional dedication, leadership and service throughout the program, especially with her contributions to the plant sale.

Dave Lykken received the Trainee of the Year award for his enthusiasm, commitment to learning and meaningful contributions during his first year in the program, including being elected as state foundation representative for this year.

“Both honorees exemplify the spirit of volunteerism that strengthens the Master Gardener community,” the foundation stated in a news release.
