Employees of the Lewis County Public Utility District (PUD) have donated $3,000 to the Lewis County Food Bank Coalition, according to a news release.

PUD workers collaborated to raise the money through donations and fundraising. The money was presented to the food bank coalition on Monday, Dec. 4.

“Every $1 contributed to (the food bank coalition) translates into at least $1.72 in food they are able to distribute to nine food banks throughout Lewis County,” the PUD stated in the news release. “The Lewis County PUD team appreciates the work the Lewis County Food Bank Coalition accomplishes for our community and is proud to be able to support their mission with this donation.”

“This donation shows the heart of our PUD employees for our community,” PUD General Manager David Plotz said. “It’s a humbling reminder of service to the neediest, and I am proud of our team’s spirit of generosity.”

The Lewis County PUD is a community-owned, locally governed utility providing power services and telecommunications infrastructure to approximately 35,000 customers throughout most of Lewis County and adjacent communities.

The Lewis County Food Bank Coalition is a nonprofit organization that has been in operation since 1988. The coalition acts as a central warehouse that collects food donations from the public, local companies and sponsors.
