Lewis County Republicans select new committeeman

Greg Rohr was elected Monday to serve as the state committeeman for the Lewis County Republican Party.

Rohr, of Toledo, will replace former Morton police chief Roger Morningstar as the committeeman. Morningstar resigned as chief of police in August following allegations he sexually harassed fellow employees and citizens at both the Morton Police Department and his previous police jobs, lied on his application to the Morton Police Department, misused public funds, and mishandled an investigation into an attempted burglary by a registered sex offender.

He was later removed as committeeman and, more recently, as a member of the Lewis County Veterans Advisory Board.

In a text, Rohr said Tuesday he wants to “serve Lewis County as a form of communication liaison and representative between the LCRP and the State Republican party.”

“I am inspired by Jesus Christ who washed the feet of His disciples and made the profoundly true statement by example. In order to lead you must serve first. Not a one time event but a life choice,” Rohr wrote.
