The Lewis County Board of Health (BOH) is continuing to seek Lewis County residents interested in serving on the Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) Advisory Board, a volunteer board that advises the BOH on issues affecting community health, environmental health, and social services.

The 13-member volunteer board provides an opportunity for community members to share lived experience and professional expertise to help inform local programs, policies and services.

The BOH is accepting applications to fill one at-large position. This position is open to any Lewis County resident with an interest in public health and social services. The appointment will fill an existing vacancy with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2027.

“Community participation is essential to ensure that local programs reflect the needs and priorities of Lewis County residents,” PHSS Director Meja Handlen, said. “The Advisory Board plays an important role in shaping recommendations that impact the health and well-being of our community.”

The Advisory Board meets monthly at 4 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Board of County Commissioners Hearing Room in the Lewis County Courthouse, located at 351 NW North St. in Chehalis. Meetings can also be attended remotely.

Applications are due by 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 5. Interested individuals can download an application at https://lewiscountywa.gov/departments/public-health and submit the completed form by email to BOH@lewiscountywa.gov. Applications will be presented to the BOH at its April 13 meeting.
