At least 12 goats have mysteriously been killed at the same location in Doty since the end of July. In each killing, a similar — if not identical — method was used.
No suspects have been identified.
Now, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance with any knowledge about the killings, which they described as “malicious” in a Facebook post Sept. 17.
The killings began July 25 and continued through Aug. 28 in the 500 block area of Elk Creek Road. The unknown suspect or suspects have killed “approximately 13 goats, varying in age,” stated the sheriff’s office.
Special Services Bureau Chief Gabriel Frase told The Chronicle Thursday that the same method has been used to kill the goats, though, at this point in the investigation, the sheriff’s office is not releasing specific information about the method itself.
He added that the slayings have likely occurred at night across at least five separate incidents.
The number of suspects is undetermined.
Citizens with any knowledge of the killings, including possible suspect vehicle information, were told to contact Deputy Mohr at michael.mohr@lewiscountywa.gov or call the sheriff's office at 360-748-9286.
