The Lewis County Department of Emergency Management will hold its annual meeting focused on the coming flood season later this month.

The county department announced Friday that it would host this year's meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Board of Lewis County Commissioners hearing room on the second floor of the Lewis County Courthouse.

As has become standard practice, the briefing for county residents and emergency responders will feature a winter weather briefing from the National Weather Service and updates from other regional and local partners.

In the same announcement, the department informed community members that it will begin testing the Lewis County Alert system at 10 a.m. each day from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16.

Each day, the county will test the system in a different area, starting with the western part of the county, including Pe Ell, Doty, Dryad, Adna and surrounding areas, on Monday.

The system test will hit central area of the county — including Centralia, Chehalis and Galvin — on Tuesday, followed by Napavine, Winlock, Toledo and Vader in southern Lewis County on Wednesday.

From there, the test moves east to the communities of Onalaska, Salkum, Silver Creek, Ethel and Mossyrock on Thursday before finally moving on to East Lewis County with Morton, Glenoma, Randle and Packwood on Friday.

Residents with questions about the tests or the upcoming flood meeting can contact the Department of Emergency Management at dem@lewiscountywa.gov or 360-740-1151.
