Local businesses hold ‘Paint and Strive’ back-to-school drive

A trio of local businesses are celebrating the arts with a vibrant paint party for Lewis County’s youths as part of the “Paint and Strive” backpack drive.

The businesses are inviting local residents to support the event by donating school supplies, both new and gently used. Items needed include notebooks, No. 2 pencils, pens, colored pencils, crayons, markers, highlighters, erasers, dry erase markers, folders, glue and scissors.

The event features collaborative canvases drawn out by local artists, blank canvases for attendees to create their own masterpieces and a communal mural to be displayed in The Juice Box Public House Gallery for the month of September.

“Enjoy art demos and the chance to paint your own backpack,” organizers stated in a news release. “All proceeds will benefit attendees and support the Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County, by helping funding an outdoor educational field trip.”
