'Local hero’ nominations sought as Chehalis plans first Fourth of July celebration

Gesa Credit Union announced in a news release Thursday it will serve as the title stage sponsor for the City of Chehalis’ first-ever Fourth of July celebration on July 4.

The event, dedicated to veterans and active service members and timed to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, will bring together families, local heroes and community members from 4 to 11 p.m. for a live concert performance, food truck court, community vendor tables, a beer garden and a fireworks display at the Gesa Credit Union Stage.

“The Chehalis community deserves a big celebration for such a monumental occasion,” Brandon Allison, Gesa vice president of community impact, said in the news release. “Being part of this event is our way of giving the spotlight to the community. Gesa is proud to stand alongside the City of Chehalis as they launch something special for the ‘twin cities’ and for every local hero who makes this region what it is.”

Gesa will present local hero awards throughout the evening.

Honorees will be selected from community nominations gathered in the weeks leading up to the event, in a process designed to recognize the firefighters, law enforcement officers, educators, health care workers and veterans who strengthen the Chehalis-Centralia area every day.

Community members who wish to nominate a local hero for recognition at the event can do so at https://tinyurl.com/ypwkhwep.
