All Mazen Saade wants to evaluate before looking at the film is if the Onalaska High School football team got “one percent better” from Week 2 to Week 3. He was blunt afterwards.
“In some areas, I think so and others, maybe not,” Saade said. “Seven penalties is seven penalties too many. No fumbles are nice; our OL played better.”
The bulk of the Loggers’ offense came from junior fullback Ethan Thayer, who bulldozed his way for 311 yards and three touchdowns to lead them past Class 1A Cedar Park Christian 46-14 on Saturday night at Juanita High School.
Thayer started and capped a 22-point second quarter with an 80-yard dash and a 3-yard score, respectively. He capped his night with a 1-yard TD in the third quarter.
“He always wants to master his craft,” Saade said of Thayer.
Carson Albertson and Lane Gordon each had a rushing touchdown and Morgan Allen came away with an interception on defense. Onalaska (2-1) will open C2BL East play next week against winless Rainier and it will also be the home opener.
“We’re really excited to start league,” Saade said. “Kids are looking forward to it.”
