Loggers drop nail-biter to Ducks

Posted

Despite a career night from Maddox McKinley off the bench, the Onalaska High School boys basketball team fell to upstart Toutle Lake 62-56 on Wednesday night in Toutle.

McKinley poured in a game-high 30 points and no other Logger (9-12, 7-10 C2BL) reached double digits. The third quarter ended up as the difference with the Ducks outscoring their opposition 15-9 while nursing a two-point halftime cushion.

“As a coach, I failed to get the guys ready for the moment,” Onalaska head coach Fred Sturz said. “We just couldn't get the ball in the hoop. Proud of the guys as they played hard all night and really improved this season.”

Ethan Thayer added nine points for the Loggers. Their Class 2B District 4 tournament will commence on Saturday in Montesano against Chief Leschi with the winner taking on Napavine in the quarterfinals.
