Loggers Fall Flat Against Chinooks in Opening Round

Kalama pressured early and Onalaska was unable to respond as the Loggers took an 80-35 defeat in the opening round of the 2B District 4 playoffs on Saturday in Kalama.

“They came out in a press and we couldn’t break it, and it got away from us,” Onalaska coach Wayne Nelson said. “We weren’t very competitive today. I was disappointed in our effort.”

The Loggers struggled to find scoring when they needed it. Mason Ulery led Ony with 16 points, while Blaze Underhill hit three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points.

Kalama senior Jackson Esary led all scorers with 29 points.

Onalaska now heads to a loser-out match against Wahkiakum at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Rochester High School.

We’re gonna scrimmage the next two practices and have some tough drills and find five or six guys who want to play,” Nelson said.
