Morton-White Pass made things interesting in Randle against Onalaska on Thursday, but the Loggers held on for a 61-54 victory to get above. 500 in league play.
The Loggers built a six-point lead in the first half, and they outscored the Timberwolves 17-9 in the third to enter the final frame up 14.
“We came out with a lot of pressure on defense and started to hit a few buckets,” Onalaska coach Fred Sturza said.
The T-Wolves rallied in the fourth, scoring 21 points to make it a close game, but the Loggers were able to hold on for the win.
“We battled and kept fighting,” MWP coach Kevin Dunlap said. ““They’re athletic and physical. We’re a pretty physical team too.”
Michael Biacan scored a season-high 16 points, while Logan Mays tallied 15 and Sebastian Gonzalez added 13.
Maddox McKinley led the Loggers with 16 of his own, Noland Brady scored 15, and Austin Sturza finished with 13. Ethan Thayer and Brodey Triana both chipped in six.
Fred Sturza was proud of how his team was able to pull it out, but noted that if they want to go as far as they hope to, they’ll need to play a full 32 minutes and put teams away earlier.
Both teams will be back on the court on Saturday. Onalaska (7-7, 6-5 C2BL) will host Winlock, and MWP (1-12, 1-9 C2BL) will head to Mossyrock.
