Two days after a thrilling victory to stay unbeaten in the league, the Onalaska High School volleyball team got every bit of a fight against Morton-White Pass and prevailed 28-26, 25-15, 25-17 at home on Thursday night.
Now at 9-3 overall and 6-0 in league, the Loggers can clinch an outright league title on Monday night versus Napavine. Emalie Jacoby posted another double-double with 25 kills and 16 digs while Sommer and Faith Hammer added 11 and 10 kills, respectively,
“Not a pretty win, but we got it done,” Onalaska head coach Susan Gordon said.
Three players at three aces each and setter Braelyn Babb distributed 35 assists. Faith Hammer and Karson Koenig timed their jumps well at the net with seven combined blocks.
MWP (9-6, 2-4) was paced by Ryelin Wiedenmann with 12 kills, Layna Sams dished out 18 dimes and Malia Armstrong had 16 digs. The Timberwolves host Rainier on Monday before closing out with Toledo.
“We had some trouble putting the ball away and ended up giving them too many easy balls over the net,” Timberwolves head coach Jamie Brazil said. “The effort and teamwork were there and that’s something we can keep building on.”
