One of the challenges that Onalaska High School head football coach Mazen Saade wanted to accomplish was see his group dominate the second half on Friday night. Already up 24-0 on Raymond/South Bend, he didn’t want laurels rested on.
Even though the Loggers only scored two more touchdowns to end up with a 40-0 victory in a Class 2B crossover, their defense held the Ravens to just 34 total yards of offense, 21 of them on the ground.
“The second half was a tell tale,” Saade stated. “We are very proud of our kids. (Making the state tournament) is always our goal.”
Fullback Ethan Thayer had his usual output of 170-plus yards with a score, but it was Haze Hamrick that went over the century mark and got Onalaska (8-3) on the board first. Carson Albertson added a pair of touchdowns.
Saade credited Morgan Allen at linebacker and the defensive line for “taking away the run” of RSB. The Loggers will find out their Round of 16 foe on Sunday with the release of the brackets.
“This is November football,” Saade said. “We’ll cherish that tonight, but we’re going to go back to work tomorrow.”
