Long Beach Sandsations Comes to Raymond, Artists Set to Sculpt Saturday and Sunday

Posted

Raymond may not be known for having a beach, but a lack of sand isn’t stopping artists of Long Beach Sandsations from sculpting this weekend near the Northwest Carriage Museum parking lot, according to a news release from the museum.

“We brought the beach to Raymond!” the release stated.

Two dump trucks full of sand from Long Beach were brought in for the artists to use. The artists will be working on a single sculpture from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. That sculpture will remain in Raymond throughout July for both locals and tourists to enjoy.

The Northwest Carriage Museum and Long Beach Merchant’s Association partnered to bring Sandsations to North Pacific County.

“This partnership will create a fun point of interest for locals and visitors alike and will give passing folks yet another reason to stop and explore our vibrant community,” according to the release.

Following their work in Raymond, Sandsations artists will return to Long Beach and will be sculpting from July 12 to July 16.

The Sandsations Raymond event is free to attend. After they’ve seen the artists, visitors are invited to explore the Northwest Carriage Museum, the Willapa Seaport Museum and Alder & Co. for snacks and coffee.

The Northwest Carriage Museum features a collection of over 60 vehicles ranging from elegant carriages to common-day buggies and work wagons along with thousands of period artifacts and clothing examples.

Admission to the Northwest Carriage Museum is $10 for adults, $9 for service members, veterans and those 60 and older and $5 for kids ages 6 through 18. Children under the age of 6 get in free.
