An 18-year-old Centralia man accused of raping a girl under the age of 14 is now facing additional charges for allegedly assaulting two corrections deputies at the Lewis County Jail on Friday.

Jayden A. Gutierrez was booked into the jail at 4:07 a.m. on Jan. 7 on charges of second-degree rape, second-degree rape of a child and second-degree child molestation, according to previous Chronicle reporting. His bail for that case is set at $250,000.

Gutierrez is accused of attacking two corrections deputies who were tasked with getting Gutierrez to lockdown shortly before 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 7, according to court documents.

A corrections deputy reported he had gone to secure Gutierrez in his cell when Gutierrez allegedly “swung at (the deputy).” The deputy reported that he “managed to dodge the punch,” but Gutierrez did allegedly strike a second deputy in the left shoulder, according to court documents.

When a deputy attempted to speak with Gutierrez, he allegedly “began yelling at him that he wasn’t going to speak with him” and called him a “punk ass bitch,” according to court documents.

While Gutierrez’s pending case has a change of plea hearing set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 12, a judge ruled Monday to set $25,000 bail for the new assault case, meaning that Gutierrez will remain in custody at the Lewis County Jail until both cases are resolved.

Arraignment for the assault case is scheduled for the same time as Gutierrez’s change of plea hearing for the other case.
