Officers with the Centralia Police Department, with assistance from the Lewis and Thurston county sheriff’s offices, arrested a man who was allegedly firing a handgun out of a vehicle early Wednesday morning.
The man, identified as Carl J. Brundage, 39, of Portland, Oregon, was reportedly wanted out of Tigard, Oregon, as a suspect of third-degree assault, domestic violence.
Just after 2:25 a.m. on April 2, the Centralia Police Department received information from the Tigard Police Department in Oregon of a male subject traveling north on Interstate 5 in a dark colored BMW, according to a news release.
“The male driver and sole occupant was believed to be impaired and driving erratically while firing a handgun from the vehicle,” the Centralia Police Department said in a news release.
The vehicle was located by Centralia police officers traveling north on Ellsbury Road in Centralia.
With assistance from the Lewis and Thurston County sheriff’s offices, a traffic stop was conducted on the dark-colored BMW in Grand Mound, according to the news release.
The driver was detained by the Centralia Police Department and K9 Havik after “refusing to comply with police commands during the high risk contact,” the Centralia Police Department stated in the release.
A firearm was located during contact with the driver.
Brundage was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on local charges. The Tigard Police Department has probable cause to arrest Brundage for third-degree assault, domestic violence, and is working on extraditing him, according to the Centralia Police Department.
