A man accused of repeatedly smashing a stranger’s vehicle with a concrete block, causing over $8,000 in damage, in Chehalis in May 2024 has been charged with first-degree malicious mischief.
The charge is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Brandon Pina, 41, of Toledo, was charged Dec. 31 in Lewis County Superior Court after investigators with the Chehalis Police Department posted photos from security footage of the incident to its Facebook page asking for suspect information, according to court documents.
An investigation into “anonymous information about who the suspect was based upon a Facebook post by the police departments” led officers to identify Pina as the suspect, according to court documents.
Pina is accused of using a concrete block to damage a vehicle in the 400 block of Northwest Front Street on May 18, 2024, according to court documents. Damage to the vehicle included a dented hood, a smashed windshield, a dent in the passenger side door and destruction of both passenger side windows.
Witness reports, corroborated by security footage, established that the suspect was a male with “a dark brown beard (who) was wearing a green and red weed baseball hat,” according to court documents.
Pina was issued a summons notice Dec. 31 for a mandatory Jan. 14 preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court, which he was present for.
Arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 23.
