A Seattle man died in an apartment fire early Sunday morning, officials said.
Dan Matugas, 60, died from smoke inhalation and thermal burns on about 60% of his body, according to the King County medical examiner's office.
Seattle Fire Department responded to the call at 6:38 a.m. Sunday and found a sprinkler-controlled fire in an apartment unit in the 1200 block of 26th Avenue South in the Judkins Park neighborhood. When crews entered the apartment, they found Matugas dead, said David Cuerpo, spokesperson for Seattle Fire Department.
The incident is under investigation, Cuerpo said.
Brian Pritchard, a Seattle Police Department detective, said no foul play is suspected.
