A Dorena, Oregon, man died Thursday in a remote area east of Sweet Home while working on a logging operation, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office received a call just after 3 p.m. for emergency rescue in the forest near Canyon Creek Road, it said. When deputies and police responded, members of the logging crew were trying to get Christopher Butler, 32, to a place where he could get medical attention. Butler’s injuries were fatal and he died before he made it to the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies and the Oregon Safety and Health Administration are investigating the cause of the accident, the news release said. As of Friday, they did not suspect foul play or equipment malfunctions.
