A man was hit and killed by a freight train in east Multnomah County on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened at around 3 a.m. near Northeast Enquist Place and Tumalt Road, according to a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office statement.
“At this point, we don’t know if the individual was trying to cross the tracks when they were hit or if they were walking along the tracks,” the sheriff’s office said. The Union Pacific police are investigating.
Officials have not publicly identified the man who died.
