One man was hospitalized after a vehicle lost control on Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County and struck another vehicle early Thursday morning.

Vernon W. Schletzbaum, 66, of Portland, was reportedly driving a red 1996 Toyota Tercel northbound on I-5 near milepost 27 at approximately 12:26 a.m. on Feb. 13 when he lost control, crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a blue 2007 Toyota Taris driven by a 42-year-old Toledo man, Dennis P. Clark, 42, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Schletzbaum was transferred to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview for treatment. Clark was not injured.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash, according to the Washington State Patrol, which determined that overcorrecting was the cause of the crash.
