A Pennsylvanian motorcyclist was transported to Arbor Health Morton Hospital Sunday evening after he was struck from behind by a semi-truck while driving on U.S. Highway 12, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol.
Jordan N. Finkelstien, 23, of Pittsburgh, suffered undisclosed injuries from the accident.
According to the state patrol, Finkelstien was traveling east in a Honda XR250 motorcycle when he attempted to apply his brakes to come to a stop. A semi-truck driving behind the motorcycle attempted to stop as well, but was unsuccessful and struck the motorcycle.
The incident occurred about 8:58 p.m. Oct. 19, east of Randle, according to the state patrol. The cause of the collision was listed as “insufficient following distance.”
Heredia M. Cesar, 23, of Calexico, California, and the driver of the truck, was charged with “following too close” to the motorcycle. He was reportedly uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
According to the state patrol, Finkelstien was wearing a helmet, but was charged with not having the endorsement required to legally operate the motorcycle.
The motorcycle was considered totaled.
