A man is in serious condition after he was stabbed in the neck Wednesday afternoon during a road rage incident that involved a collision, according to Seattle police.

The stabbing at Seventh Avenue and Madison Street was reported shortly before 3 p.m. A 44-year-old woman was arrested, said police spokesperson Detective Eric Muñoz.

Muñoz said the incident began on Interstate 5 until the drivers reached the intersection, when the woman stepped out of her vehicle to give the other driver a talking to. During the ensuing argument, the 51-year-old man called her derogatory names, Muñoz said.

The woman retreated to her vehicle, and when the man approached her driver's side window she allegedly thrust a multitool blade into his neck, Muñoz said.

The man stumbled to the side of the intersection before flagging down a passing ambulance, according to police. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for life-threatening injuries and the woman was expected to be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of felony assault.
