The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man who was located inside a vehicle on United States Forest Service U.S. Forest Service Road 25-0210 within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, according to a news release on Tuesday evening.
On Sunday, Aug. 23, deputies responded to the area after the vehicle was located concealed from view along a decommissioned forest road.
During the investigation, a patrol sergeant located an adult male deceased inside the vehicle.
With the assistance of the Skamania County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, the subject was recovered from the remote location. The Skamania County Coroner’s Office conducted the death investigation in coordination with the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.
Scene evidence suggests the death was self-inflicted, according to the sheriff’s office.
“At this time, investigators have found no evidence indicating that any other person was involved in the death,” the sheriff’s office stated. “The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team for their assistance in this recovery. The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office and Skamania County Coroner’s Office extend their condolences to the family and friends affected by this incident. No additional information is being released at this time.”
