The skeletal remains of a man were found earlier this month in Olympia, the Thurston County Coroner said Tuesday.

About 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8, Olympia police and coroner's office staff were called to a wooded area near the 1100 block of Pear Street Northeast.

That's where they found the decomposed remains and a single tent, Coroner Gary Warnock said.

The man who died was 58, he said. Warnock said he has identified the man but isn't ready to release his name because his office is still trying to reach next of kin.

The cause of death will require more investigation. The remains will be sent to the King County Medical Examiner's Office and be reviewed by a state anthropologist, he said.
