Only five Twin City Mat Cats made the trip to Tahoma High School in Maple Valley on Saturday, but they had an impressive showing with four gold medals, three silver medals, and three bronze medals at the Washington State Wrestling Association South County Scuffle.
Kaiden Coates led the way with two gold medals, winning one in both freestyle (U14 127.6-139.7) and Greco-Roman (131.9-139.8), and he scored a total of 67 points for the team.
Camden Maine (U10 FS 80-88.8) and Zoie Cortes (Girls HS FS 235-248) both also earned gold medals in their respective brackets.
Ophileah Cortes (U8 FS 95.8-97.2 and U10 GR 91.6-97.2) finished second in two brackets, and Zoie Cortes (U14 FS 186.8-249) also finished second in another bracket.
Darius White (U10 FS 98.8-104.2 and (U10 GR 97.6-104.2) posted a pair of third-place finishes, and Zoie Cortes (U16 GR 226.8-249) rounded out her weekend with a third-place finish to earn her third medal.
Next up for some of the Mat Cats is the WSWA Takedown Express FS/GR Classic, which will be held at Kent-Meridian High School in Kent on Saturday. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m.
