Mat Rats Rebooted earned a top-15 finish at the Washington State Wrestling Association Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Championships at The Podium in Spokane this past weekend, scoring 302 team points to secure a 14th-place finish.
Myryn Phillips led the way in the U10 division, scoring a combined 72 points across both styles (39 in Freestyle and 33 in Greco-Roman).
He earned the most pins and techs in the least amount of time, securing seven total in a combined mark of just 5:21.
On the girls’ side, Charlie Wheeler dominated the High School Freestyle 120-pound bracket, scoring 39 team points. She led the entire team in falls, pinning six opponents in a combined 5:24, a mark of less than a minute per match.
Triton Wait was also efficient, securing three technical falls in just 4:27, while Emmalin Rubey grinded out 31 points in the Middle School girls 108-pound division.
“These kids are just built different,” coach Zach Demers said. “They show up every practice and grind, buying into the ‘can’t stop, won’t stop’ motto. They have proved over and over that they are out-conditioning opponent after opponent and they just never settle. They are a huge inspiration to many, including myself. We are more than a club, we are a family.”
