The Washington state Employment Security Department (ESD) recently released the unemployment rates for June 2026, showing that unemployment decreased in both Lewis and Thurston counties from May.
Specifically, Lewis County’s unemployment rate decreased from 6.0% in May to 5.4% in June, while Thurston County saw its unemployment rate fall from 4.5% to 4.1%.
In Skamania County, the unemployment rate fell from 4.5% to 4.1%. Other counties saw rate changes, including: an increase in Pierce County from 5.2% to 5.4%; a .6% decrease in Grays Harbor County from 5.8% to 5.2%; Pacific County fell from 6.7% to 6.2%; Wahkiakum County dropped from 7.8% to 6.5%; in Clark County, the rate decreased from 4.8% to 4.4%; and Cowlitz County fell from 5.5% in May to 5.0% in June.
Across Washington state, the unemployment rate has remained the same from 5.2% in May to 5.2% in June.
