The Morton volleyball team’s winning streak hit double-digits on Tuesday, as the Huskies went on the road and topped Wahkiakum 11-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18.

It’s the Huskies’ first victory over the Mules this season, as Wahkiakum got the better of Morton in the season opener back on Sept. 8.

It was a tough start for the Huskies in Cathlamet, a tough place to play, on Tuesday, but they were able to settle in.

“The girls battled tonight,” Morton coach Jamie Brazil said. “We got off to a bit of a slow start but found our rhythm and continued to build as the match went on. I was happy to see the girls reset, make adjustments, and keep competing. We definitely have some areas we want to continue working on, but I’m proud of the effort and resilience they showed tonight.”

Ryelin Wiedenmann finished with 21 digs, 13 kills, and a block, while Brooklyn Montoure tallied 18 digs and 13 kills.

Chevy Fuller added 11 digs, seven kills, and a block, and Crystal Dygert recorded 22 assists, six digs, and two kills. Kendall Cournyer pitched in nine digs, six kills, and a block.

As a team, the Huskies only missed three serves. Wiedenmann, Montoure, Crystal Dygert, Hayden Brazil, Jewel Dygert, Dymond Dygert, and Caydence Franz all finished perfect at the service line.

Morton (11-2) has now won 10 games in a row, and the Huskies will look to extend that streak to 11 on Thursday at home against White Pass.
