The Morton-White Pass girls basketball team put aside a poor first quarter and rallied back from an early double-digit deficit, but the Timberwolves couldn’t escape with a victory against Raymond-South Bend 52-50 Tuesday night.

The Ravens pounced on the T-Wolves in the first quarter, leading 15-3 after the opening frame. MWP found some life in the second behind Malia Armstrong and Ryelin Wiedenmann to pull within eight at halftime.

Armstrong helped MWP make it a one-possession game entering the fourth quarter with seven of the T-Wolves’ 15 points in the third, but a late burst by Wiedenmann wasn’t enough. The junior forward scored nine of her 15 points, including two 3-pointers, in the fourth quarter.

Armstrong led all scorers with 16 points, while Chevy Fuller added eight. Layna Sams tallied five points, and Caydence Franz and Kendall Ingalsbe scored four and two, respectively.

MWP (7-3) has now lost three of its last four games after starting 6-0. The Timberwolves will look to get back on track at home against Coupeville at Morton Saturday afternoon.
