Mossyrock Clinches Regional Berth in Win Over Taholah

Cruising to an early lead and never looking back, the Mossyrock boys basketball team clinched its first regional berth since 2016 — when the Vikings finished as state runner-ups at the 2B level — in a 76-43 win over Taholah in the a loser-out contest at Montesano in the 1B District 4 tournament Friday night.

We came out ready to play from the tip and Keegan Kolb was able to capitalize and finish at the rim,” assistant coach Kelly Ross said. “Our energy defensively set the tempo for the game and we were able to execute offensively. It was a big win to move us to regionals but we have another game tomorrow against Columbia Adventist for a chance to claim the third-place in our district.”

Kolb was the catalyst early, scoring 14 points in the first quarter to help the Vikings take a 21-9 lead, and finishing the game with 23 points. Hunter Isom added a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double, with 10 offensive rebounds. Easton Kolb scored seven points and dished out six assists, and the Vikings shot nearly 50% from the field in the dominant win.

Mossyrock will take on Columbia Adventist Saturday at Montesano at 7:30 p.m. — with a regional berth already clinched — in hopes of improving its seeding for the state tournament, to be decided on Sunday.
