Mossyrock stuns MWP to clinch crossover berth

A Gunnar Callies 60-yard run with under five minutes left in the fourth quarter put the Vikings up for good to defeat the rival Timberwolves 22-20 on Thursday night to clinch a spot in the Class 2B crossover round next week.

Two weeks ago, Mossyrock had to forfeit against Onalaska due to injuries. Now, it gets to take on C2BL West champ Adna next week with the opportunity to play in the Round of 16. First-year head coach Robbie Dailey called it a “great overall team win.”

“I told the boys we got to play 48 more minutes of Vikings football,” Dailey stated. “They took that has a challenge tonight. Proud of the boys.”

Kyle Brockway finished with 111 yards on 24 carries for the Vikings and Callies added 94. He took an outside carry to the end zone after using Brockway up the middle for chunk plays. Defensively, Mossyrock held MWP scoreless in two quarters.

Kohen Ingalsbe had 98 yards and two total touchdowns for the Timberwolves, who dropped the final two games of the regular season to miss the postseason. Morton and White Pass will split in 2026 and drop to 8-man football.

“We just found a way to lose,” MWP head coach Lee Metcalf said. “We wanted to end with a good note for our seniors, we just didn’t play very clean football tonight, and it cost us.”
