The mother-son duo accused of breaking into a Centralia home and assaulting one of its residents in October have been convicted and sentenced.

Evan T. Gibbs, 20, was granted a first-time offender waiver after he pleaded guilty to one count each of residential burglary, domestic violence, and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, on Dec. 12.

As part of the waiver, he was granted credit for 45 days of jail time served. He was not in custody at the Lewis County Jail as of Friday afternoon.

He was also ordered to undergo anger management evaluation and domestic violence evaluations, and complete all recommended treatment.

Kelley Gibbs, 37, was sentenced to four days of credit for time served on Dec. 12 after she entered an Alford plea to one count of first-degree criminal trespassing, domestic violence. An Alford plea allows a defendant to take advantage of a plea deal without admitting guilt.

The duo allegedly “burst into the home” of Kelley Gibbs’ brother and another man on Oct. 28.

“Upon entry, an argument ensued and both Gibbs were ordered to leave,” the affidavit stated.

The mother and son apparently refused, and a “physical struggle ensued.”

According to the affidavit, Both Kelley and Evan Gibbs assaulted the other male resident, whose shirt was reportedly damaged during the altercation.

At some point, a neighbor allegedly “intervened to stop the assault.”

The affidavit does not explicitly state how the altercation ended.
