A motorcyclist and passenger were killed Saturday after crashing into a school bus on state route 7 going south near Alder Lake, said Washington State Patrol spokesman John Dattilo.

State Route 7 near Alder Cutoff Road East was blocked in both directions, as of 11 a.m.

"There was one motorcycle with two occupants," Dattilo said in a phone interview Saturday.

Details are thin, though no passengers were on the school bus and the driver is uninjured, Dattilo said. No further details of the school bus or motorcycle that carried two people are known at this time.

State troopers, paramedics, and the Washington State Department of Transportation were at the scene as of 11:00 a.m., Dattilo said in a tweet.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported a collision just before 10:07 a.m.

State Route 7 was closed in both directions for several hours, and alternate routes were in effect, WSDOT said in a tweet an hour after the initial crash was reported.
