A 30-year-old Olympia man died after a motorcycle-versus-truck collision on Marvin Road Southeast in Lacey on Wednesday.

The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Marvin Road, near Martin Way, said Lacey Police Sgt. Jeremy Knight. The Olympia man was riding a 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was hit by a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by a 79-year-old Yelm man, he said.

First responders had the Olympia man airlifted from the roadway to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Knight said. Lacey police learned he died Thursday morning, he said.

The Yelm truck driver was towing a boat, Knight said. Based on a preliminary investigation, he said it appeared the Yelm man tried to turn left onto Marvin Road from a private driveway and failed to yield to the motorcycle.

There was an adult passenger in the truck, but Knight said neither the driver nor passenger were injured in the collision.

Knight said Lacey police do not believe speed was a factor in the collision. There has been no indication that either of the drivers were impaired, he said.

Potential charges will be evaluated as the investigation progresses, Knight said.

Police closed the roadway for about five hours after the incident, according to a Lacey Police Department social media post.
