Mountaineers come away with big win over Cardinals

The Rainier baseball has now won four of its last five games, as the Mountaineers handled Winlock 17-0 in five innings on Wednesday.

The Mountaineers (6-8, 6-7 C2BL) jumped on top-immediately with four in the first, and they added six more in the second to go up 10. Two more in the fourth and five in the fifth made it 17-0.

Hunter Howell and Dayton Gardner combined to no-hit the Cardinals (2-11, 2-11 C2BL). Howell pitched the first two innings, walking three and striking out four, while Gardner struck out seven in three innings.

Howell also collected four hits and three RBIs at the plate, and Johnny Boesch also tallied four hits and drove in a pair.

Rainier and Winlock will face off again at Rainier on Thursday.
