Mountaineers drop first-half hammer on Loggers

The Rainier girls basketball team got all the points it would need in a red-hot first half Friday, blowing past Onalaska 69-34 in Central 2B League action.

The Mountaineers (6-0, 3-0 C2BL) led 21-10 after a quarter of play and then went on a 20-5 run in the second to enter halftime already up by 25 points.

“Rainier is a very well-rounded basketball team,” Onalaska coach Alana Olson said. “They shot the ball really well, and capitalized every time we made a mistake.”

Anika Plowman and Haileigh Hanson both had eight rebounds to lead the Mountaineers on the glass.
