The Rainier softball team dropped a back-and-forth matchup against Raymond-South Bend on Thursday, losing a late lead before falling 17-14.

The Mountaineers led 14-13 going into the seventh, but a four-run seventh from RSB put Rainier in a hole too big to climb out of.

Prior to the final frame, Rainier scored two or more runs in five of the six innings it had come to the plate.

Layla Hill had three hits and three runs batted in in three at-bats, while Gracie Lantz added four RBIs and reached base in all four of her plate appearances and Lucy Wolfe drove in three runs.

Rainier (10-4, 4-2 C2BL) will be at home again on Monday to host Napavine.
