The Rainier boys basketball team dominated defensively in the second half against Montesano on Monday, allowing just 10 points in the final two frames of a 51-31 victory.

The game was looking like an offensive battle early on, as the two teams combined for 31 points in the opening frame, but from that point on, Rainier allowed just 16 points while doing enough offensively to pull away.

The Meldrums led the way for the Mountaineers, as the trio combined for 38 points. Jake Meldrum scored 15, Jimmy Meldrum added 12, and Josh Meldrum tallied 11.

Rainier (3-0, 1-0 C2BL) will return home for a league matchup with Toutle Lake on Thursday.
