A Picasso it was not, but for the Timberwolves, they were able to work a little magic in the middle frames with 12 runs to catapult them over the Mules 19-16 in a two-plus hour non-league contest on Thursday night in Morton.

The two sides combined for 15 hit batters, 14 wild pitches, 21 hits and 21 walks. Yet it was a seven-run bottom of the fifth and three more in the sixth for MWP (3-2) that proved to be the difference.

Alyssa Kampa tied the game with an RBI single and Katie Jordan was plunked with the bases loaded to give the T-Wolves the lead for good. Gracie Ford kept the train rolling with a two-RBI single and Kendall Ingalsbe drove in a pair with a double.

Ford, Rylinn Cox and Lela Dacey all recorded RBI singles in the sixth. MWP’s three-through-seven hitters combined for 14 of its 17 runs batted in and eight hits. It also struck out just four times and didn’t commit an error.

The Timberwolves will next take on Oakville on Wednesday in Grays Harbor County.
