NAMI Peer-to-Peer, a recovery-focused educational program for adults living with mental illness, will be held in Olympia for 10 weeks starting April 30.
The program will be 6-8 p.m. Thursdays through July 2 at the Olympia Community Center, 222 Columbia St. NW. The 10 two-hour sessions are taught by a trained team of professionals living in recovery from mental illness. Included in the program are presentations, discussion and exercises.
Among the program’s features are:
• Up-to-date research on brain biology
• Mental illness symptoms and their relationship to personal experiences
• Personalized relapse prevention plans
• Tools to prepare for interactions with health care providers
• Skills for making decisions and reducing stress
