Napavine claims share of C2BL title with shutout over Onalaska

Behind a complete game one-hitter from ace Cal Bullock had a couple crooked numbers, the Tigers triumphed against the Loggers 14-0 in five innings to clinch a share of the league title on Friday.

There will be a coin flip between Co-champs Adna and Napavine for who will be the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds for the Class 2B District 4 tournament that kicks off on Saturday, May 9. The Tigers (18-2, 14-2 C2BL) had double the amount of walks (14) as they did hits (seven) in their regular season finale.

Six runs in the bottom of the second and five more in the third put the game away. All of Napavine’s second inning runs came with two outs, the big one a bases-clearing double by Layton Griffith. It took advantage of two straight Onalaska (2-18, 2-14) errors to keep the third going.

Tommy Deebach registered two hits for the Tigers and was a part of the quartet that included Grady Wilson, Cal and Eric Bullock that scored twice. Cal Bullock struck out eight and allowed just two walks on 69 pitches.

Rowdy Lyons had the lone hit for the Loggers. They now have to take on Mossyrock in a pigtail game to get into the official district pigtail game. A date for that contest has not been determined.
