Paced by double-double from Nicholle Valentine and a couple advantages inside and outside the arc, the Tigers put together a signature 62-38 win over a returning Class 2A state tournament team in the Rapids on Monday night at home.

Valentine finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Taylen Evander also registered 18 points plus notched five steals. Hayden Kaut had 10 points and six boards for Napavine (4-2). The Tigers made five 3-pointers to Columbia River’s zero and won the second chance points battle 18-7.

Napavine jumped out to a 20-8 cushion after one and got the lead to as big as 32 in a wire-to-wire win. Up next for the Tigers is a non-league game on Saturday versus Lakes before heading to the Lynden Christmas Classic that starts on Dec. 29.

“Our press created some easy buckets for us tonight,” Napavine head coach Shane Schutz said. “We came ready to play. I was pleased with our effort.”
