Facing a bigger school was no challenge for the Napavine football team on Friday, as the Tigers handled 2A Hudson’s Bay from start to finish in a 47-7 win.

“I liked the way we executed,” Napavine coach Josh Fay said. “I liked the way we moved the ball around.”

Caleb Von Pressentin got the scoring started on the Tigers’ first play from scrimmage, breaking free for a 58-yard touchdown run. Later in the first, Grady Wilson found Karsen Denault on a deep shot for a 63-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 13.

Napavine (1-0) continued to dominate in the second, as Cayle Kelly caught an 8-yard touchdown reception and scored again on a 9-yard run, and Beckett Landram raced free for a 74-yard score.

Denault returned the first kickoff of the second half back to the house, and Kelly scored again on a 7-yard run to cap his three touchdown day.

Wilson finished 4 for 7 with 122 yards through the air, while Landram, Von Pressentin, and Kelly combined for 204 rushing yards on just six carries. Denault needed just two catches to finish with 99 receiving yards.

Napavine will get an extra day of rest before taking on Life Christian at the Stadium High School Bowl on Saturday.
