The Napavine Elementary School fourth grade class, made up of 60 students, along with a dozen chaperones toured the Washington state Capitol last week with 20th District state Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia.

"It is always inspiring to see young minds eager to learn about our state's government," Abbarno stated in a news release. "Hosting students from Napavine Elementary reminds us of the importance of fostering civic education and encouraging the next generation to participate actively in our democracy."

Along with getting to tour the Capitol, students got to witness firsthand the state’s legislative process and engage directly with their elected representatives.

"I've had the great honor of visiting with many of these students in their classroom and now at the Capitol," Abbarno added in the release. “This is a very fun and engaged group. It is always a pleasure to meet with them."

The Napavine Elementary School class visit marks a continued tradition of educational tours offered to students aiming to familiarize them with the legislative process and how the state government works. Abbarno hopes to continue welcoming more students to the state Capitol.
