Napavine falls to 3A White River

A White River barrage from three was too much for Napavine to overcome on Saturday in Buckley, where the Tigers fell to the Hornets 68-47.

White River finished the night with 15 three-pointers, including some of which were contested by Napavine defenders.

“That is the challenge of playing a 3A school,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said. “These schools have several kids who can play.”

The Tigers were able to keep pace offensively early, scoring 11 in the first and 18 in the second to go into the locker room down just five.

“I thought we executed some of our plays very well today and had some really good looks,” Schutz said.

The Hornets pulled away in the second half, though, outscoring the Tigers 34-16 in the final two quarters.

Hayden Kaut finished with a team-high 11 points, and Hannah Fay had “her best night” and finished with eight. Sophia Bittner added seven, and Ava Ondong recorded five.

Napavine (8-4, 1-0 C2BL) will head to Adna on Wednesday.
