The Napavine girls basketball team came out firing and never looked back on Friday, when the Tigers defeated Morton-White Pass 79-38.
Napavine scored 26 points in both of the first two quarters to open up a 31-point lead, and it added 27 more in the second half.
Hayden Kaut had an excellent all-around game, scoring 27 points on 12 for 17 shooting while also adding seven steals, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Taylen Evander added 19 points and four assists, while Jessie McCoy scored nine points.
Ava Ondong and Hannah Fay both added seven points, and Fay added six steals and three rebounds. Nicholle Valentine tied Kaut for a team-high six rebounds.
As a team, the Tigers forced 29 turnovers and scored 31 points off of those turnovers.
“We were pretty sound defensively tonight,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said.
Ryeline Wiedenmann led the Timberwolves with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Malia Armstrong scored 10 points, hauled in six rebounds, and dished out three assists.
It’s a quick turnaround for both squads, as both teams are back in action on Saturday. Napavine (8-2, 1-0 C2BL) will be back at home on Saturday against White River, while MWP (6-5, 0-1 C2BL) will head to Ocosta.
